Course Overview
This sub-strand, situated under the Numbers and Algebra strand, focuses on the mathematical study of patterns through sequences and series. It guides learners from identifying basic number patterns to mastering the formal structures of Arithmetic Progressions (A.P.) and Geometric Progressions (G.P.). The curriculum emphasizes not just the theoretical derivation of formulas (such as the nth term and sums), but also the practical application of these mathematical tools to solve real-world problems and understand sums to infinity in geometric contexts.
What you'll Learn?
Identify Patterns: Determine the nth term in a general number sequence.
Analyze Arithmetic Structures: Determine specific terms and the common difference in arithmetic sequences and series.
Analyze Geometric Structures: Compute terms and the common ratio in geometric sequences and series.
Calculate Sums: Determine the sum of terms in both arithmetic and geometric series (including sum to infinity for G.P.).
Practical Application: Apply the principles of sequences and series to solve real-life situations.
