1. Contest Overview

The SNAP Mathematics Contest 2026 is an online mathematics competition for secondary school students in Grade 10, Form 3, and Form 4. The contest will be hosted on the SNAP Learning Hub platform.

Contest date: Saturday, 27 June 2026

Results date: Sunday, 28 June 2026

2. Eligibility

• The contest is open to students in Grade 10, Form 3, and Form 4 only.
• A participant must be a genuine student of the school under which they are registered, unless otherwise expressly approved by the organiser.
• Each student must be registered in the correct class/form category.
• The organiser may reject or remove an entry that is incomplete, inaccurate, misleading, duplicated, or submitted in the wrong category.

3. Registration and Entry Fee

• The registration fee is KES 300 per student.
• Registration is only complete after the required details have been submitted and payment has been confirmed.
• Students are responsible for the accuracy of the details they provide about themselves, including their names, class/form, school, contact details, and any other required registration information.
• Teachers and schools are encouraged to verify student details before submission to avoid errors that may affect access, results, certificates, or awards.

4. Contest Schedule

All contest sessions will take place on Saturday, 27 June 2026.

Students must start and complete the contest within the time window assigned to their category. Late access does not automatically entitle a participant to extra time.

5. Platform, Access, and Allowed Materials

• The contest will be administered online through SNAP Learning Hub.
• Each participant must use their own valid login credentials and must not share account access with another person.
• Students are responsible for having a suitable device, adequate power supply, and a stable internet connection.
• Calculators are allowed unless a specific question or instruction states otherwise.
• Participants must read and follow all instructions displayed on the platform before and during the contest.

6. Contest Conduct and Academic Integrity

The contest must be completed honestly and independently.

• A student must not impersonate another student or allow another person to sit the contest on their behalf.
• Participants must not share questions, answers, screenshots, login details, or solution methods during the live contest.
• Unauthorised assistance is not allowed. This includes help from another person, group solving, answer-sharing platforms, or unauthorised digital tools.
• Any attempt to manipulate scores, abuse the platform, interfere with another participant, or gain unfair advantage may result in disqualification.
• The organiser may use system logs, timestamps, response analysis, IP and device checks, and other reasonable review measures when investigating irregularities.

7. Technical Responsibility

SNAP Ed-Tech Innovations will make reasonable efforts to ensure the platform is available and functional. However, participants and schools remain responsible for device readiness, internet access, and timely login.

• The organiser is not obliged to award extra time for participant-side problems such as poor connectivity, depleted battery, wrong login details, or late login.
• Where a material technical issue is shown to have arisen from organiser-controlled systems, the organiser may apply an appropriate remedy, including restoring access, extending a window, rescheduling, or another fair measure.
• The organiser's decision on technical remedies shall be final.

8. Scoring, Rankings, and Awards

Scores will be generated from the official contest marking rules on SNAP Learning Hub. Where cross-category comparison is required, standardised z-scores may be used to compare performance fairly across Grade 10, Form 3, and Form 4.

8.1 Individual Awards

The following awards will be given in each form/category:

The overall best student across all categories will receive an iPad A16 (2025 model). This overall ranking may be determined using z-score standardisation.

8.2 Best School Award

The overall best school will receive a trophy.

• For fairness across schools of different sizes, the school award will be determined using the organiser's school ranking method based on verified contest performance and z-score standardisation.
• Unless otherwise announced by the organiser, the school ranking will be based on an equal-team method using the top 10 verified contestants from each qualifying school.
• A school must have at least 10 valid and verified contestants to qualify for the overall best school award.

8.3 Tie-Breaks

• If two or more students are tied, the organiser may apply tie-breaks using designated higher-order questions, section performance, time taken, or another published contest rule.
• If a tie remains after the stated tie-break process, the organiser may declare a shared position or make a final determination in the interest of fairness.
• Equivalent tie-break principles may be applied for school awards.

9. Verification of Winners

All winners are subject to verification. The organiser will contact the relevant school to confirm that a winning participant is a genuine student of that school and was correctly entered in the contest.

• If a participant cannot be verified as a true student of the stated school, that participant shall be disqualified.
• Where disqualification occurs, the ranking shall be recomputed and the next eligible participant or school shall move into the relevant award position.
• The organiser may request reasonable proof of school affiliation or identity before confirming a prize.

10. Results and Public Communication

Final results will be released on Sunday, 28 June 2026 after the organiser completes verification and review.

• Results will be announced through an online briefing.
• The time and access details for the briefing will be communicated through official channels.
• Results, highlights, and winner announcements may also be posted on SNAP social media platforms and other official communication channels.

11. Prize Fulfilment

Prizes and school awards will be delivered to schools within two weeks after schools reopen, subject to successful verification of winners.

12. Disqualification and Organiser's Decisions

• The organiser may suspend, review, invalidate, or disqualify an entry where there is evidence of false information, impersonation, misconduct, collusion, cheating, irregular system use, or breach of these terms.
• The organiser may withhold publication of a result or award until a review is complete.
• The organiser's decision on contest administration, verification, scoring interpretation, irregularities, and award eligibility shall be final.

13. Privacy and Use of Information

By registering for the contest, participants and schools consent to the use of registration and contest data for administration of the contest, verification, communication, certificates, results publication, and prize processing.

• Names, schools, categories, rankings, scores or summary performance information may be published for legitimate contest purposes.
• The organiser will take reasonable care in handling participant information but may disclose information where necessary for verification, prize delivery, or legal compliance.

14. Acceptance of Terms

By registering for the contest, or by participating in it, the student, teacher, school, and parent or guardian where applicable confirm that they have read, understood, and accepted these terms and conditions.
